Research Programme: Minimally-invasive surgical oncology
Principal Investigator: Prof Pierluigi Bove

Ongoing project

Ongoing research focuses upon minimally-invasive surgical oncology, reconstructive surgery and endourology, and in particular on the novel technologies applied to laparoscopic e robotic surgery for bladder, kidney, and prostate cancers. This is accomplished through the following tasks:

Task 1: Randomized clinical trials in the setting of urological cancers. We aim to evaluate the outcomes of minimally invasive oncologic urologic surgery. Oncologic conditions treated using minimally invasive techniques include: prostate cancer (radical prostatectomy), kidney and upper urinary tract cancers (partial nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy, nephroureterectomy), bladder cancer (radical cystectomy).

Task 2:  Analysis of the genetic, epigenetic, proteomic and metabolomic profile for the identification of new biomarkers of solid tumors of the urinary tract. We aim to identify biomarkers potentially useful in the early diagnosis and treatment of urological cancers toward an even more personalized care
